The story of Drake Kart
A great passion that grew
between the track and the workshops
Enrico Bertipaglia, the administrator of Drake Kart, grew up among racetracks and workshops, surrounded by the scent of gasoline and the heat of kart tires. His passion for racing comes straight from his father, Gianni, a motorcycle enthusiast who spent time on amateur circuits and was hardly surprised when Enrico developed an irresistible attraction to engines at just nine years old. It was at that age that he fell in love with his first dirt kart— and as they say, first love lasts forever.
But young Enrico wasn’t just content with racing; he wanted to get his hands dirty, to understand how every single part worked and why. This curiosity led him to master the art of assembling a kart to perfection even before hitting the track for real races at the age of fourteen. His first checkered flags and early victories came in the Triveneto region—weekends were spent racing at full speed, while during the school week, in math and English classes, his mind was often on his kart’s carburetor or that tricky turn on a particular track. But the best part of the day came in the afternoon, after the final school bell, when Enrico would put down his books and work as an apprentice for the legendary Otello Chiesa and his son, Dino.
And it was there, at Chiesa Corse—where some of the greatest Formula 1 champions of recent years, from Nico Rosberg to Lewis Hamilton, had passed through—that Enrico proved he was not only a talented driver but also a skilled kart builder. As he began competing beyond Northern Italy, stepping onto the international karting stage, word of his keen eye quickly spread among enthusiasts, earning him his first loyal customers.
In the world of karting, as in all motorsports, everyone strives to equip their vehicle with the latest cuttingedge products and accessories. Driven by his customers’ enthusiasm and desires, Enrico, at just eighteen years old, decided to launch his first e-commerce store for kart accessories. It was the beginning of a long and successful journey, made possible especially by the trust placed in him by Chiesa Corse and the Zanardi brand.
But running an online store wasn’t enough for Enrico, who remained as passionate as ever about racing. For years, he balanced his roles as a businessman, driver, and student—until early 2016, when, after earning his long-awaited Law degree from the University of Padua, he decided to turn his passion into a full-time career, dedicating himself entirely to the Drake Kart project.

After years of being the only online and physical retailer in Italy for the Zanardi brand, in 2018, Drake Kart chose to join Dino Chiesa and Daniela Frescura in their new and promising adventure with the Kart Republic brand.
